Ten Hands Brewing Scarecrow is a massive, unadulterated Imperial Stout that leans into the decadent pastry realm through sheer malt density. This jet-black liquid exudes a powerful aromatic profile of dark chocolate and espresso, interwoven with rich esters of sun-dried raisins and jammy plums. Despite the lack of actual adjuncts, the intense specialty malt bill yields convincing notes of dark candy sugar and creamy vanilla. On the palate, it is exceptionally viscous and sweet, delivering a decadent layer of cocoa and dark fruit before a smooth, warming alcohol finish provides necessary structure to its sticky, velvety, and luxurious texture.

Appearance. Opaque jet black (40+ SRM) with a thick, creamy, deep tan head. The beer exhibits significant viscosity, leaving prominent legs on the glass upon swirling.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and dark candy sugar. Strong esters of raisins and plums are present, accompanied by a subtle, natural vanilla character and a noticeable but clean alcohol warmth.

Taste. Decadent and complex, featuring initial flavors of dark chocolate and sweetened espresso. Deep malt-driven notes of raisins, plums, and dark sugar dominate the palate. The bitterness is moderate but largely balanced by significant residual sweetness, leading to a lingering, sweet finish of cocoa and dried fruit.
