High-intensity aromatics of resinous pine from Chinook and vibrant citrus from Citra and Amarillo collide with the botanical brightness of toasted oak chips steeped in gin. Appearance. Deep ebony to black in color (35 SRM) with a persistent, creamy, light tan head that leaves significant lacing. Despite its dark hue, the beer maintains a clear, non-murky appearance.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics featuring vibrant grapefruit and lime citrus from Citra and Amarillo, underscored by the resinous pine of Chinook. A spicy, peppery note from the malted rye blends with subtle juniper and herbal gin botanicals. Low notes of toasted oak, dark chocolate, and a clean fermentation profile support the hop-forward nose.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrusy hops and pine needles followed by a dry, spicy malt mid-palate driven by rye. Malt flavor features restrained chocolate and light coffee without ashy or burnt harshness. The finish introduces botanical gin notes and a woody, toasted oak character. Bitterness is firm and lingering but clean, consistent with a high-IBU American IPA, ending with a dry, resinous aftertaste.
