Templarius is a classic Belgian Tripel that honors medieval abbey traditions with a vibrant, sensory-driven profile. It pours a deep yellow with a hazy character from being unfiltered and bottle-conditioned. The aroma is a complex bouquet of peppery phenols and citrusy esters, reminiscent of orange peel and soft banana. On the palate, a rounded grain-sweetness from the malt provides a backdrop for firm bitterness and spicy floral notes derived from whole-flower hops. Its high natural carbonation, achieved through bottle refermentation, leads to an exceptionally dry and effervescent finish, masking the significant alcohol strength with a refreshing, crisp drinkability.
Appearance. Deep yellow to pale amber; unfiltered with a slight haze. Features a long-lasting, creamy, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lacing.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex bouquet of peppery and clove-like phenols. Moderate fruity esters suggesting orange and lemon. Low grainy-sweet malt and a subtle, perfumy hop character from whole flowers.
Taste. Initial soft, grainy-sweet malt quickly followed by spicy phenols and citrusy esters. Medium bitterness is accentuated by a very dry finish. Flavors are well-integrated with a deceptive alcohol presence and a clean, spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, feeling lighter than the gravity suggests. High carbonation with an effervescent, prickly sensation. Soft alcohol warmth is present but never harsh.
