This Double IPA showcases a sophisticated marriage of New Zealand South Island hops with an impressive 10.2% potency. Despite its strength, it drinks with a surprising lightness, mimicking a fine white wine through its elegant, vinous character. The sensory profile is defined by layers of honeyed melon and soft tropical fruits, supported by a subtle, underlying caramel malt thread. Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM) with good clarity. Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of honeyed melon, white grape, and soft tropical stone fruits. A supportive, low-intensity malt character provides hints of light caramel and grain in the background, complemented by a clean fermentation profile and a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy melon and vinous hop flavors. The malt flavor is restrained and clean, offering light toasty notes and a touch of caramel sweetness that balances the moderately high bitterness. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, leaving a lingering aftertaste of tropical fruit and a refined, vinous hop character without any harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high, providing a refreshing lift. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the complexity without becoming hot or solventy.
