This Double IPA radiates an intense hop bouquet driven by a complex blend including Nectaron, Citra, and Motueka. Lush aromas of ripe peach and pineapple from the Nectaron and Citra Cryo intertwine with bright lemon, lime, and grapefruit notes contributed by Centennial and Motueka, while Saaz adds a delicate herbal counterpoint. Despite its 8% strength, the beer maintains a remarkable smoothness and drinkability. A clean, neutral malt base provides a soft foundation for the aggressive hop character, leading to a balanced finish that leaves a trace of velvety sweetness before a crisp, lingering bitterness takes hold.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7-10 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent white head and fine lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy, consistent with modern hopping techniques.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward profile. Dominant notes of stone fruit (peach) and tropical pineapple are layered over a sharp citrus medley of lime zest and grapefruit. A faint spicy and floral undertone persists. Malt is low and neutral, offering a simple bready support.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of hop flavors: juicy peach, zesty lemon, and tropical fruit. Bitterness is firm and assertive (high IBU) but lacks harshness, providing a sturdy structure. The malt flavor is clean and soft, transitioning into a medium-dry finish with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a notably smooth, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or sharp. No hop-derived astringency.
