This modern West Coast IPA offers a vibrant sensory journey led by an intricate hop blend of Southern Cross and Krush, which drive intense notes of ruby grapefruit and ripe stone fruit. The aromatic profile is further layered with the signature white wine and gooseberry character of Nelson Sauvin and the tropical punch of Riwaka. A foundation of Chinook provides a classic resinous pine backbone, while Saaz contributes a subtle, noble floral spice. The palate is exceptionally clean and crisp, featuring a lean malt profile that allows the hop complexity to shine without heavy bitterness. It finishes remarkably dry and refreshing, epitomizing a bright, fruit-forward take on the style.
Appearance. SRM 6-8; brilliant clarity with a pale gold to medium gold hue. Pours with a medium-sized, bright white head featuring excellent persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit, peach, and passionfruit. Underlying notes of pine resin, crushed gooseberry, and a hint of floral spice. Malt is low and neutral, presenting as crackery or grainy-sweet. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. The initial impression is hop-dominant, showcasing citrus zest, stone fruit, and tropical melon. Medium bitterness that is firm but smooth, lacking the aggressive bite of traditional examples. Low, clean, grainy malt flavors provide a neutral canvas. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste of grapefruit peel and pine.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides a refreshing, prickly sensation on the tongue. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated. No hop astringency.
