Intergalactic Planetary is a stellar collaboration between Tarantula Hill and Mumford Brewing, delivering an atmospheric sensory experience. This Double IPA utilizes a potent trio of Strata, Cashmere, and Nelson hops to create a dense, tropical profile. Aromas of passion fruit and ripe strawberry from the Strata lead into a sophisticated palate where Nelson Sauvin provides distinct notes of white wine grapes and crushed gooseberry. Cashmere adds a layer of smooth lemon-lime citrus, softening the 8.3% ABV. Despite its strength, the beer maintains high drinkability, featuring a lush, velvety texture and a clean, fruit-forward finish that avoids harsh bitterness.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, deep gold to light orange (6-8 SRM) with a large, persistent white head that leaves dense, sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, strawberry, and tropical melon. Nuanced vinous characters of white grape and gooseberry are supported by a faint, bready malt sweetness and light stone fruit esters.
Taste. A bold initial impression of tropical fruit punch and citrus oil. Mid-palate reveals complex layers of strawberry and white wine skins. Malt flavor is low and neutral, providing a soft, bready foundation. Bitterness is moderate-high but smooth and well-integrated. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present but never solventy. Devoid of hop-derived astringency.
