This Double IPA, aptly named JuiceBox, delivers an explosion of sensory intensity characterized by saturated tropical fruit and citrus notes. At 8.4% ABV, it presents a bold profile featuring waves of mango, pineapple, and zesty grapefruit derived from a massive addition of modern New World hops. The malt remains a clean, supportive presence, ensuring the focus stays entirely on the "hoppy poetry" mentioned by the brewers. Despite its strength and the hazy character described, it maintains the expected style balance, offering a harmonious blend of firm bitterness and lush, juice-like aromatics that linger long into a resinous finish.
Appearance. SRM 7-10. Deep gold to light orange. Notable opacity and haze with a thick, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, mango, tangerine, and grapefruit. Supportive, clean, neutral grainy malt sits in the background. Fermentation is clean, with a very light, smooth alcohol note and minimal esters.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors mirroring the aroma with pineapple, stone fruit, and citrus zest. High bitterness that is firm but lacks harshness. Low, soft, bready malt character provides balance before a dry to medium-dry finish. Clean alcohol flavor is present but well-integrated into a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable, restrained alcohol warmth that is smooth rather than hot. No harsh hop-derived astringency.
