Tanis La Pépite is a Specialty IPA that artfully balances the rustic, farmhouse nature of its Tarn origins with a bold, modern hop profile. It displays a striking dark character where the malt contributes gentle notes of toasted bread and light chocolate, carefully avoiding any harsh or burnt sensations. The aromatics are led by high-intensity resinous pine and bright citrus notes, which transition into a firm, palate-cleansing bitterness. This medium-bodied ale finishes dry and crisp, offering a sophisticated interplay between restrained dark malt complexity and a clean, hop-forward presence that maintains high drinkability.
Appearance. Dark brown to black color with good clarity. It features a persistent, moderate-sized light tan head with good lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high hop aroma with prominent resinous pine and citrus notes. Very low to moderate malt presence provides light chocolate and toast character, with a clean fermentation profile and minimal fruity esters.
Taste. High hop flavor featuring citrus and resinous notes balanced by a medium-low malt flavor of restrained chocolate and coffee. The bitterness is medium-high and firm but not harsh. It finishes dry with a lingering bitterness and a light, supportive roast character.
Mouthfeel. Smooth, medium body with moderate carbonation. It presents a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any astringency.
