Tacet Brewery’s Seherezade is an evocative Double IPA that bridges the gap between assertive hop intensity and exotic botanical layers. At 7.5% ABV, it presents a prominent hop profile brimming with citrus and resinous notes, harmoniously intertwined with the warm, aromatic presence of cardamom. This spice adds a sophisticated floral and herbal dimension to a clean, neutral malt backbone. The experience is like a symphonic narrative, balancing high bitterness with a dry, lingering finish that highlights the interplay between the hops and the spicy 'wizard' ingredient. It remains remarkably drinkable, focusing on aromatic complexity rather than heavy residual sweetness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (approx. 9 SRM). Features a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with good lacing. Clarity is clear to brilliant, typical of the style.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of grapefruit, pine, and subtle tropical fruit. This is complemented by a distinct, spicy, and slightly floral cardamom character. The malt is neutral and grainy in the background, with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of orange zest and resinous pine lead into a firm, moderately high bitterness. The cardamom provides a unique mid-palate complexity, offering herbal and peppery notes. Malt is low and supportive, providing a light cracker-like base. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy and spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, clean texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp sensation. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its 7.5% strength without being harsh.
