This massive Imperial Stout presents an opulent sensory experience, refined by significant time in wood. The aroma is dominated by a luxurious interplay of rich cocoa and aromatic cinnamon, underpinned by the smooth, marshmallow-like sweetness of vanilla. On the palate, it is decadent and dessert-like, weaving together layers of bittersweet chocolate and toasted oak. Despite the high alcohol content, the warmth is well-integrated, supporting a complex profile of dark fruit esters and deep-roasted malts. The wood aging imparts a sophisticated structure that balances the intense sweetness, leading to a lingering, spicy finish defined by cocoa and warming cinnamon.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). It pours with a thick, deep tan head that shows moderate retention, leaving oily legs on the glass as it swirls, indicative of its high viscosity and alcohol content.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, dark roasted coffee, and significant spicy cinnamon. Prominent vanilla provides a creamy sweetness, complemented by woody oak notes and a hint of dark fruit esters like raisins and prunes. The alcohol is noticeable but smooth.

Taste. Intense and complex, featuring initial flavors of dark chocolate and cocoa nibs followed by a distinct cinnamon warmth. The vanilla adds a silky sweetness that balances the aggressive roasted grain character. Medium-high bitterness is present but largely masked by the high residual sugar and wood tannins. The finish is long and warming with a decadent aftertaste of spice and toasted malt.

Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied, viscous, and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but gentle alcohol warmth is present throughout, without being sharp or solventy.
