Leave the Capitol is a robust Strong Bitter that balances traditional British heritage with a modern punch. Brewed in collaboration with John Keeling, it delivers a deep sensory experience defined by rich malt complexity. Pronounced aromas of toasted biscuit and dark toffee lead into a palate layered with molasses and nutty undertones. A nuanced blend of US and UK hops provides a subtle spicy and earthy counterpoint, ensuring the firm bitterness remains integrated. At 7% ABV, it presents a fuller presence than standard examples, finishing with a classic medium-dry linger and a warming embrace that highlights its Extra Special character.

Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-amber (approx. 15 SRM). Brilliant clarity. Forms a moderate, creamy, off-white head with good retention and delicate lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominated by a rich malt profile featuring prominent notes of biscuit, toffee, and a hint of dark molasses. Hop aroma is moderate, displaying a blend of earthy and floral character with a light spicy lift. Moderate fruity esters, reminiscent of dried stone fruits.

Taste. Bold initial impression of bready and toasted malt. The mid-palate reveals deep toffee and molasses sweetness, balanced by a firm medium-high bitterness. Hop flavors are multi-faceted, ranging from earthy and herbal to a faint resinous spice. The fermentation character adds layers of plum and pear esters. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, clean bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a soft mouth-coating feel. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, appropriate for its strength.
