This potent Double IPA, a collaboration with Põhjala, delivers an intense sensory experience driven by a massive double dry-hop addition of Citra, Loral, and Callista. A heavy wheat-based grist replaces oats, creating a soft, hazy foundation that amplifies the hop saturation and provides a creamy, bread-like structure. The aroma is a complex tapestry of grapefruit, stone fruit, and delicate floral notes. On the palate, Citra provides sharp citrus definition, while Callista contributes ripe peach and Loral adds a refined herbal spice. Despite its 9% strength, the finish remains remarkably clean and dry, supported by a firm bitterness and a smooth, thirst-quenching wheat character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Opaque clarity due to the high wheat content. Pours with a thick, persistent, off-white creamy head that leaves dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring layers of grapefruit and lime from Citra, followed by stone fruit notes of apricot and peach from Callista. Loral adds a distinct floral and slightly peppery spice. Background malt is grainy and bready, with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of warming alcohol.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of tropical fruit and bright citrus peel. The malt flavor is supportive and soft, showcasing bready wheat without heavy caramel. Bitterness is firm but smooth, balancing the 9% ABV. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering aftertaste of citrus resin and a light floral honey note. Complex and highly saturated.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture from the wheat-heavy grist. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth without harshness or solvent notes. Low astringency.
