Violet Fuzz presents as a quintessential Hazy IPA, emphasizing a soft, pillowy texture and vibrant hop saturation characteristic of Structures Brewing. The aroma is led by the floral grapefruit notes of Centennial and the deeper, resinous passionfruit character of Simcoe. This is layered with the distinctive tropical lime and lychee brightness of NZ Cascade, creating a complex bouquet of stone fruit and citrus. On the palate, the hop intensity is high but lacks harshness, supported by a grainy, bready malt backbone and a smooth, off-dry finish. The result is a refined, juice-forward experience where the lush mouthfeel perfectly balances the modern hop profile.
Appearance. Straw to light gold (4 SRM). Opaque with a characteristic hazy shine; no visible particulates. Topped with a dense, meringue-like white head with high retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of grapefruit, passionfruit, and tropical lime. Background notes of sweet bread and light grain. Fermentation esters are neutral to slightly fruity, complementing the tropical hop character without any buttery or acidic notes.
Taste. Very high fruity hop flavor consistent with the aroma, showcasing citrus peel and stone fruit. Malt flavor is low to medium, providing a soft, bready foundation. Bitterness is moderate-low and smooth, never sharp. The finish is off-dry and clean with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Remarkably smooth with no astringency or harshness; a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
