Teal Fuzz presents a modern Hazy IPA profile defined by the expressive interplay between Mosaic and Chinook hops. This saturated ale opens with a vibrant bouquet of ripe mango, blueberry, and zesty citrus, grounded by the subtle, dank pine resin and grapefruit notes typical of the Pacific Northwest. On the palate, the hop intensity is high but delivered with a characteristically soft, pillowy texture that elegantly carries its 7.2% ABV. A lean, bready malt base provides just enough support for the tropical fruit and resinous flavors to shine, leading to a smooth, low-bitterness finish that remains refreshingly clean rather than cloying.
Appearance. Deep straw to pale orange (5 SRM) with a significant, opaque haze and a luminous shine. It is topped by a dense, meringue-like white head that shows excellent retention and leaves thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics lead with Mosaic’s signature tropical medley of passion fruit, mango, and a distinct hint of blueberry. This is complemented by the classic Chinook profile of resinous pine and grapefruit zest. Background malt is neutral and lightly grainy, while fermentation esters are subtly fruity and well-integrated.
Taste. The flavor mirrors the aroma with a massive wave of tropical stone fruit and citrus oil. Mosaic provides succulent berry and papaya notes, while Chinook adds a balancing layer of pine and spicy grapefruit pith. The bitterness is moderate but perceived as soft and rounded, avoiding any hop burn. The malt provides a neutral, cereal-like backdrop, finishing off-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a silky, creamy texture that avoids being viscous or heavy. Carbonation is moderate, providing a gentle lift. There is a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its strength, and zero astringency or harshness.
