Structures Brewing crafts Flatlands as a quintessential Hazy IPA, prioritizing a soft, pillowy texture and a saturated hop profile. The use of Citra hops delivers a primary wave of ripe mango and bright tangerine, while the Comet hops introduce a sharper, zesty grapefruit and subtle tropical resin character. This 7% ABV ale pours with a characteristic opaque glow and a dense, rocky white head. The sensory experience is dominated by juicy fruit expressions and a smooth, low-bitterness finish that highlights the biotransformation of the New World hops against a background of clean, bready malt.
Appearance. Straw to light orange (4-6 SRM); opaque, uniform haze with a distinct shine; thick, meringue-like white head with high retention and heavy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring tropical mango, passion fruit, and lychee from Citra, accented by Comet’s wild grapefruit and light resinous notes. Neutral, lightly bready malt in the background; clean fermentation with faint stone fruit esters.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma with layers of sweet citrus, guava, and pineapple. Low to medium-low bitterness that is well-masked by the soft body. Malt is neutral and grainy-sweet, providing a supportive base. Finishes off-dry and silky with a lingering, juice-like tropical aftertaste and no harsh hop burn.
