This American IPA presents a modern take on the West Coast tradition, balancing a wheaty malt base with a vibrant, resinous hop profile. Bright notes of grapefruit and distinctive gooseberries lead the sensory experience, offering a sharp, citrusy edge that cuts through the sun-drenched golden hue of the pour. Despite its 6.4% ABV, the beer remains remarkably crispy and lean, with a firm bitterness that expertly reigns in any residual sweetness. Appearance. Brilliant medium gold color with a tall, white, frothy head that exhibits excellent persistence and leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by fresh grapefruit zest and resinous pine. Notable secondary notes of gooseberries and tropical fruit emerge over a light, grainy, and slightly wheaty malt background. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. The initial impression is hop-forward, featuring assertive flavors of citrus peel, resin, and tart gooseberry. A medium-high bitterness provides a crisp structure, supported by a low, clean, grainy maltiness. The finish is decidedly dry and refreshing, with a lingering hoppy aftertaste of grapefruit and pine.
