This Imperial Stout-based Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer is a massive, indulgent experience. It leads with the intense, fruity brightness of freshly roasted Ethiopian specialty coffee, seamlessly integrated into a decadent foundation of dark chocolate and rich dulce de leche. The high alcohol content provides a comforting warmth that balances the viscous, velvet-like texture. Expect a complex interplay of roasted malts and sweet caramel, where the natural berry-like acidity of the coffee provides a lift to the heavy, dessert-like profile. It is a bold expression of dark, roasted intensity and creamy sweetness, finishing with a lingering, mocha-infused elegance.
Appearance. Opaque, jet black (40+ SRM). A thick, persistent mocha-colored head provides excellent retention and leaves dense lacing. The high viscosity is visible via slow-moving legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominant notes of freshly ground Ethiopian specialty coffee bring hints of dark fruit to the forefront, supported by a rich, malt-driven backbone of dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Deep caramel and a creamy dulce de leche sweetness round out the bouquet, with very low earthy hop presence and clean fermentation.
Taste. The initial impression is extremely rich and decadent. Intense dark chocolate and espresso flavors from the coffee dominate the palate, accompanied by a heavy dulce de leche creaminess. Significant roasted malt bitterness provides balance against the high residual sweetness, while hop bitterness remains supportive. The finish is long and luxurious, featuring lingering notes of mocha and caramelized sugar.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous with a thick, syrupy texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, enhancing the creamy mouthfeel. A noticeable and well-integrated alcohol warmth flows through the palate without being harsh or fusel.
