This Double IPA is a vibrant showcase of New Zealand terroir, bursting with an intense aromatic profile driven by a heavy double dry-hopping of Motueca, Riwaka, and Nelson Sauvin. The sensory experience opens with a powerful wave of crushed white grapes, zesty lime, and pungent passionfruit. A lean, neutral malt base ensures the hops remain the focal point, providing a crisp canvas for the complex tropical and vinous notes. Despite its 7.7% ABV, the beer maintains a high level of drinkability, balancing firm bitterness with a dry, resinous finish that highlights the unique diesel and citrus qualities of the Southern Hemisphere hops.
Appearance. Pale gold to light copper in color with a slight haze from the intensive double dry-hopping. Features a moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma characterized by lime zest and mojito notes from Motueca, pungent grapefruit and passionfruit from Riwaka, and distinct gooseberry or white wine grape from Nelson Sauvin. Low, neutral grainy malt in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive burst of tropical fruit and citrus. Prominent flavors of passionfruit, lime, and crushed grapes dominate over a low, supportive cracker-like malt character. Bitterness is high and firm but not harsh, leading to a dry, clean finish with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crispness that enhances drinkability. Includes a restrained, gentle alcohol warmth without any hop-derived astringency.
