Yakima Bound celebrates the harvest with a vibrant sensory tribute to the Pacific Northwest. This American IPA pours with brilliant clarity, releasing a high-intensity bouquet driven by specific hop selections. Chinook provides a classic foundation of resinous pine and pithy grapefruit, while Citra amplifies the citrus complexity. The addition of Amarillo introduces bright, floral orange notes that dance over a lean, crackery malt base. On the palate, a firm bitterness asserts itself, balancing the punchy fruit character before leading into a crisp, dry finish. It is a quintessential West Coast expression, emphasizing hop pungency and a clean fermentation profile that honors the Yakima Valley.
Appearance. Color is a deep gold to light reddish-amber (approx. 7–9 SRM). It features brilliant clarity and is topped by a medium-sized, off-white head with excellent persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by citrus and resinous notes. Distinctive grapefruit and pine from Chinook are complemented by tropical citrus from Citra and sweet orange from Amarillo. Low grainy maltiness provides a clean, supporting background with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward and assertive. Prominent flavors of grapefruit zest, orange peel, and resinous pine. Malt flavor is low to medium-low, characterized by clean, grainy, and slightly toasty notes. Bitterness is firm and medium-high, leading to a dry, crisp finish with a lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light to medium body with a smooth, non-astringent texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively prickle. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, consistent with its 6.8% ABV.
