Stoup Brewing’s Mothership IPA is a vibrant American IPA that celebrates the brewery’s growth with a sophisticated, modern hop profile. Riwaka, Mosaic Cryo, and Loral Cryo hops lead the sensory experience, delivering an intense bouquet of bright pink grapefruit, lush tropical mango, and delicate floral notes. The aromatic intensity is supported by a brilliant, gold-colored body and a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes hop-forward character. A restrained, grainy malt backbone provides essential structural support to the firm bitterness, resulting in a refreshing interpretation that remains focused on punchy fruit layers and a clean, resinous aftertaste.
Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, white, persistent head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit and citrus zest from the Riwaka and Mosaic Cryo. Layered tropical notes of passionfruit and mango are complemented by the distinct floral and slightly peppery perfume of Loral Cryo. Low grainy malt sweetness provides a clean background with no detectable esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-dominant with high flavors of grapefruit pith, stone fruit, and citrus resin. Malt flavor is low to medium-low, presenting as clean, crackery notes. Bitterness is firm and clean, consistent with a moderately high IBU. The finish is dry and crisp, leading into a lingering, hoppy, and slightly piney aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from the hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing crispness. Very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is appropriate for the 6.5% ABV.
