This modern Double IPA presents a vibrant sensory profile led by the dynamic pairing of Luminosa and Citra hops. The initial impact is a tropical and citrus explosion, featuring distinct notes of peach, candied orange peel, and guava from the Luminosa, while Citra contributes signature layers of grapefruit and passion fruit. Despite its 7.6% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable, maintaining a lean, neutral malt backbone that allows the potent bitterness to shine without harshness. It finishes crisp and dry, embodying a contemporary West Coast spirit where intense hop saturation meets a clean, refreshing profile.
Appearance. Light gold (approximately 6-7 SRM) with a bright white, well-formed, and persistent head. Exhibits a light haze, characteristic of modern heavily dry-hopped versions.
Aroma. Intense and complex hop aroma featuring prominent notes of peach, papaya, and guava. Distinctive citrus layers of grapefruit and candied orange peel are supported by a clean, neutral, and slightly grainy malt character in the background.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of passion fruit, grapefruit, and stone fruits dominate the palate. The bitterness is high and potent but remains smooth rather than harsh. A minimal, clean malt presence provides just enough support before transitioning into a very dry finish with a long, lingering hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate. A subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being solventy or hot. Lacks any significant hop-derived astringency.
