Crescent Moon is a remarkably vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases the innovative Kohia Nelson blend, integrating Nelson Sauvin and Rakau hops with New Zealand passion fruit. The sensory experience is dominated by an explosion of tropical juice, where intense layers of passion fruit, guava, and sweet orange meld into a complex pink grapefruit citrus note. The Nelson Sauvin contribution adds a refined white grape nuance, while the Rakau provides a stone fruit depth. Beneath this massive hop and fruit profile lies a subtle, bready malt foundation. It pours a deep straw yellow with high turbidity and a soft, medium-full body that ensures a lush, velvety mouthfeel.
Appearance. Color is straw yellow (3-4 SRM). Opaque with high turbidity and a thick, meringue-like white head with high retention and beautiful lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop and fruit aroma. Dominant notes of passion fruit, guava, and pink grapefruit. Nelson Sauvin provides distinct white grape and gooseberry layers, while Rakau adds stone fruit. Malt is low and neutral-grainy. Clean fermentation without harsh esters.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the aroma with massive passion fruit and tropical guava. Mid-palate features orange and pink grapefruit. Malt flavor is low and bready, supporting the fruit without sweetness. Bitterness is low and smooth. The finish is off-dry and clean with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation. Light, well-integrated alcohol warmth from the 7.2% ABV. Smooth and devoid of hop harshness or astringency.
