This New Zealand Pilsner blends rigorous Bavarian technique with the vibrant aromatics of the Southern Hemisphere. Utilizing a traditional decoction mash and 100% Heidelberg Pilsner malt, it provides a bready, honeyed foundation that supports a modern hop profile. Liberal additions of Wai-iti and Motueka deliver nuanced top notes of lemongrass, lime, and kiwi. Fermented cold with a renowned Bavarian house yeast and conditioned for four weeks, the result is exceptionally clean and crisp. It balances the structural elegance of a German lager with the bright, tropical fruit and white-wine-like character distinctive of New Zealand hops.
Appearance.Straw to pale gold color with brilliant clarity. Features a dense, creamy, long-lasting white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma.High intensity hop aroma featuring lime zest, lemongrass, and subtle kiwi fruitiness. Supporting this is a clean, bready, and crackery malt profile with a faint honey-like sweetness. Fermentation character is exceptionally clean with no esters.
Taste.Initial grainy-sweet malt flavor followed by a medium-high hop bitterness that is firm but smooth. Flavors of tropical fruit, lime, and grass from the Motueka and Wai-iti hops dominate. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering, clean hop character and subtle bready malt notes.
Mouthfeel.Medium-light body with a very smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing, lively feel without any harshness or astringency.
