We used Weihenstephan’s yeast and a blend of hops from both our own and Weihenstephan.

We find this tension incredibly intriguing, as it mirrors the duality of our brewery: our beers are iconic and steeped in tradition and authenticity, yet we also enjoy pushing boundaries to appeal to the adventurous beer drinker.

Bovendien ondergaat dit bier geen flesgisting, een andere primeur in onze brouwtraditie.
En alsof dat nog niet uitdagend genoeg is, hebben we ons er ook toe verbonden dit te brouwen volgens het Duitse Reinheitsgebot!
We gebruikten Weihenstephan's gist en een mix van hop van zowel onszelf als Weihenstephan.
Kenners zullen de 'oxymoron' of de schijnbare tegenstrijdigheid in de stijl en naam van het bier herkennen.
Een ongefilterde Helles is per definitie een tegenstrijdigheid.
Wij vinden deze spanning ongelooflijk intrigerend, omdat het de dualiteit van onze brouwerij weerspiegelt: onze bieren zijn iconisch en doordrenkt van traditie en authenticiteit, maar we vinden het ook leuk om grenzen te verleggen om de avontuurlijke bierdrinker aan te spreken.
De visuele identiteit van Kombine 2025 zet het design dat met Braupakt werd geïntroduceerd, voort.
Op het etiket prijken opnieuw Sint Bernardus en Sint Korbinianus, de oprichter van Weihenstephan.
Deze twee iconische figuren werden tot leven gebracht door de Belgische illustrator Xavier Truant, die ook de inmiddels beroemde illustraties voor de liftschacht in onze brouwerij in Watou maakte.

Collab with Weihenstephan
St Bernardus Kombine 2025 builds on the partnership we established with the German brewery Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world. In 2024 we already ventured into a very successful collab with Weihenstephan, resulting in the beer Braupakt, brewed at their facility. This time, the beer is brewed at our brewery.

Design
The visual identity of St Bernardus Kombine 2025 continues the Braupakt line. The label once again features our St.Bernardus and Saint Korbinian, the founder of Weihenstephan. The 2 iconic figures were brought to life by the Belgian illustrator Xavier Truant, who previously also designed the now famous illustrations in the elevator shaft of our brewery in Watou.
*Reinheitsgebot
This literally means ‘purity law’. It means that beer may only be brewed from water, hops, malt and yeast – and no other ingredients. This law dates back to the 16th century, with three objectives in mind: to protect consumers from rising prices, to prohibit the use of wheat so that more bread could be produced, and to prevent unscrupulous brewers from adding toxic ingredients to their beer as conservatives or flavoring agents. It is the oldest food safety law in the world. Today, it is synonymous with the quality mark of a Bavarian beer!
Future
The name ‘Kombine’ will from now on serve as the banner under which we launch creative alliances with other breweries. This name reflects our international ambition, as it is easily pronounced in multiple languages. Each future St.Bernardus collab will represent a specific beer style, with the overarching name ‘Kombine’ remaining central to these ventures.

Het is het allereerste ondergistende bier van St. Bernardus, en bovendien het eerste bier uit de brouwerij zonder nagisting op fles. Als extra uitdaging is het gebrouwen volgens het Duitse Reinheitsgebot, met Weihenstephan-gist en een hopmengsel afkomstig van zowel de eigen hopvelden als die van Weihenstephan.
De bierstijl is bewust een paradox: een ongefilterde Helles is technisch gezien een tegenstrijdigheid. Juist deze spanning maakt Kombine 2025 bijzonder, als symbool voor de combinatie van traditie en innovatie binnen de brouwerij.
Het label sluit aan bij de stijl die werd geïntroduceerd met Braupakt, en toont opnieuw St. Bernardus en Sint Korbinian – twee iconische figuren, tot leven gebracht door de Belgische illustrator Xavier Truant.

Kombine 2025 er en unik øl, der kombinerer belgisk finesse med tysk inspiration. Den er brygget som en del af et samarbejde mellem to anerkendte bryggerier, og den repræsenterer det bedste fra begge traditioner.
Den har en letdrikkelig og afrundet smag med lav IBU på 15. Farven er gylden og let diset, og smagen byder på blød malt, et strejf af brødskorpe og en diskret humleprofil, der tilfører en mild, urtet friskhed. Den ufiltrerede karakter giver øllet mere dybde og en behagelig, naturlig fylde i munden.
Kombine 2025 er en god øl til enhver lejlighed. Den kan nydes alene som en forfriskende øl, men den er også god til mad. Den er især velegnet til lette retter og som aperitif.
