This Imperial Sour Ale presents a vibrant, tropical kaleidoscope driven by a massive addition of pineapple, blood orange, passion fruit, and apricot. The absence of lactose ensures a sharp, clean profile where the natural acidity of the fruit synergizes with a firm lactic sourness. This Wild Specialty Beer delivers a bright, tangy experience where the strength is well-hidden behind a wall of sun-drenched citrus and stone fruit. The Pineapple provides a sharp tropical punch, while Blood Orange adds a zesty, slightly bitter citrus edge, complemented by the aromatic intensity of Passion Fruit and the velvety, jammy depth of Apricot.
Appearance. Deep orange to golden-yellow with a slight pinkish-red hue; SRM 7-9. Pours with a moderate, off-white head that dissipates quickly. Distinct haze is present from the significant fruit additions.
Aroma. High intensity of fresh pineapple and tangy passion fruit followed by zesty, floral blood orange. A subtle apricot sweetness provides a base. Fermentation character is clean and sharply lactic with no hop or malt presence.
Taste. Intensely tart and fruity. A saturated blend of tropical pineapple and tart passion fruit is balanced by the fleshy stone-fruit character of apricot. Blood orange provides a mid-palate citrus bite. No hop bitterness; finish is very dry and acidic with lingering fruit-skin tartness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation providing a prickly, effervescent sensation. Very low alcohol warmth despite the strength. Crisp and mouth-watering without any lactose-driven creaminess.
