Guapi is a refreshing American Lager designed for summer enjoyment, blending a clean bottom-fermented profile with the exotic flair of prickly pear. It presents a very pale, crisp backbone typical of a Mexican-style lager, emphasizing a dry and thirst-quenching character. The addition of prickly pear, or cactusvijg, introduces a subtle, tropical fruitiness that complements the neutral malt profile without overpowering the beer’s delicate balance. Effervescent and bright, it offers a light grainy sweetness that finishes cleanly, making it an ideal companion for spicy snacks or a warm afternoon, ideally served cold to accentuate its snappy, effervescent mouthfeel.
Appearance. Very pale straw color (2-3 SRM) with brilliant clarity. A frothy white head forms quickly but has low persistence, typical of the style.
Aroma. Low intensity with a very clean fermentation profile. Subtle grainy-sweet malt notes are accented by a light, melon-like tropical aroma from the prickly pear. Hop aroma is nearly absent, perhaps showing a faint herbal trace.
Taste. A crisp, neutral palate features a light grainy malt sweetness balanced by low bitterness. The prickly pear provides a subtle, earthy, and tropical fruity undertone that adds interest without sweetness. The finish is short, dry, and exceptionally clean with no lingering harshness.
