This Hazy IPA, a collaboration between St Ives and Vocation, presents a vibrant, juice-forward profile driven by a double dry-hopping of Alora and Sultana hops. The Alora variety introduces a distinct bouquet of ripe peach, apricot, and sweet melon, accented by a zesty yuzu brightness. Sultana complements this with bold layers of fresh pineapple and a hint of resinous pine. At 6% ABV, the beer maintains a soft, approachable character with a characteristic opacity. The result is a harmoniously rounded expression of modern hopping techniques, emphasizing tropical fruit intensity and a smooth finish over sharp bitterness.
Appearance. Straw to light orange color (4-6 SRM). Opaque with a characteristic hazy shine; no visible particulates. Topped with a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with high retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by stone fruit (peach, apricot) and tropical notes of pineapple. Secondary notes of sweet melon and a distinct citrus/yuzu zest. Malt is supportive and low, suggesting fresh grain or light bread. Clean fermentation profile with subtle fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive burst of tropical and stone fruit flavors, mirroring the aroma with pineapple, peach, and citrus. Low to medium-low bitterness that is smooth and never harsh. Malt provides a soft, bready foundation. Finishes off-dry and clean with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, plush texture. Medium carbonation. Smooth on the palate with no astringency or hop burn. Very light alcohol warmth appropriate for the strength.
