Inference Engine is a modern Double IPA that showcases an intense hop profile through a massive double dry-hop addition. By utilizing Citra and Motueka alongside concentrated Citra Incognito and Motueka Hop Kief, Spyglass Brewing achieves a saturated sensory experience of zesty lime, tropical mango, and crushed mojito mint. A lean, neutral malt bill ensures the New World hop character remains the focus, providing a clean canvas for the resinous and fruity notes to shine. At 8.1% ABV, the beer carries a smooth, well-integrated warmth and a firm bitterness, resulting in a crisp, dry finish that emphasizes high drinkability.
Appearance.Pours a deep gold to light orange with a moderate-sized, persistent white head. Displays a slight haze characteristic of extensive dry-hopping, yet maintains a bright presence in the glass with good overall clarity.
Aroma.High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of zesty lime, grapefruit, and sweet passionfruit from the Motueka and Citra. Background notes of resinous pine and a hint of grainy, crackery malt are present. Fermentation is clean with very low esters and no solventy alcohol.
Taste. The palate is dominated by punchy citrus and tropical fruit flavors. Initial lime and lemon-peel brightness transitions into a mid-palate of mango and melon. Malt presence is low and supportive, offering a clean, neutral canvas. Bitterness is firm and assertive but smooth, leading to a medium-dry, crisp finish with a long, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively sensation on the tongue. A gentle alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, lacking any harshness or hop-derived astringency.
