Spigha Witbier
This special edition Witbier presents a classic Belgian sensory profile, defined by its refreshing complexity. High levels of unmalted wheat provide a bready and slightly grainy foundation, occasionally revealing subtle notes of honey and vanilla. The aroma is dominated by zesty orange peel and the perfumy, lemony character of coriander, complemented by delicate herbal notes. On the palate, the beer is crisp and effervescent, balancing citrus fruitiness with a mild peppery spice. Its finish is remarkably dry and clean, supported by a low bitterness that allows the yeast-derived esters and traditional spices to shine through without any harshness.
Appearance. Very pale straw to light yellow (2–4 SRM). The beer is distinctly hazy with a milky, whitish-yellow shine due to suspended starch and yeast. It supports a dense, white, moussy head with excellent retention.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring bready, grainy wheat malt and light honey-like sweetness. Pronounced citrus-orange fruitiness is layered with perfumy, lemony coriander and a subtle background of peppery herbs. Hop aroma is absent.
Taste. Initial impression is of crisp grain and bready wheat. Moderate zesty orange and lemon flavors lead into a subtle herbal-spicy coriander mid-palate. Hop bitterness is low, providing just enough structure to support the citrus. The finish is very dry and refreshing without any lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a characteristic smoothness and light creaminess from the use of wheat and raw grains. High carbonation provides a lively, effervescent sensation. No alcohol warmth or astringency is present.
