Speakeasy Prohibition Ale
This award-winning American Amber Ale presents a masterful tug-of-war between bold malt depth and assertive hop character. Rich, roasted caramel notes lead the sensory experience, providing a sturdy foundation of toasted grain and crystalline sweetness. This malt backbone is countered by a distinctively American hop profile, offering layers of resinous pine and bright citrus zest. While the initial impression is one of malty abundance, the palate quickly shifts toward a firm, integrated bitterness. The experience concludes with a remarkably dry and clean finish, leaving a lingering trail of toasted malt and herbal hop essence that invites another sip.
Appearance. Deep, brilliant copper with reddish highlights (14-17 SRM). Topped by a thick, persistent off-white head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant aromas of toasted bread and dark caramel are layered with classic American hop notes of grapefruit peel, pine resin, and a hint of floral spice. Clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial surge of caramel and biscuity malt sweetness met by a moderate-high hop bitterness. Flavors of orange marmalade and resinous pine balance the toasted grain character. The finish is remarkably dry and clean, with a lingering bitterness that never becomes harsh.
Mouthfeel. Medium to medium-full body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a crisp mouthfeel. A very subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present.
