Sovina 500 Sour Grape Ale

Other Styles 4.7 º 8 IBU
This refreshing Grape Ale highlights the unique terroir of Quinta do Ameal, utilizing Loureiro grape must to create a sensory bridge between craft beer and Vinho Verde. The profile is defined by an elegant floral character and bright citrus notes typical of the Loureiro variety, melding seamlessly with a lean malt base. A balanced fusion of natural grape sweetness and a crisp, refreshing acidity provides a vibrant, sparkling wine-like experience. At a sessionable 4.7% ABV, it offers a clean, sophisticated profile where the aromatic essence of the vineyard remains the central focus, finishing exceedingly dry and crisp.
Appearance. Pale straw to light golden (3-5 SRM). Pours with a white, fine-bubbled head with medium-low retention. Clarity is generally good with a brilliant, sparkling sheen.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring the distinctive Loureiro character of orange blossom, laurel, and lime zest. A supportive, neutral pilsner malt graininess sits in the background. Fermentation is clean with no detectable esters or hops, allowing the grape varietal to lead.
Taste. Initial impression is bright and tart, showcasing fresh green grape, peach, and citrus flavors. The malt character is very low and supportive, providing a light crackery base. Hop bitterness is very low, as the profile is driven by refreshing acidity rather than IBUs. The finish is exceedingly dry and clean, with a lingering crispness from the grape must.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with high, effervescent carbonation that mimics sparkling wine. No alcohol warmth is present. The acidity contributes to a sharp, dry perception without astringency.
