Soma Upside Down is a punchy and contemporary Double IPA that centers on a unique collision of New Zealand hops and herbal complexity. The aromatic profile is dominated by the resinous, piney character of Waimea and the bright, zesty lime notes of Motueka. These are amplified by the addition of cannabis terpenes, which introduce a pungent, dank, and earthy depth. On the palate, the beer delivers a firm, clean bitterness that balances a lean, neutral malt base. Vibrant tropical fruit and citrus zest lead to a dry, resinous finish, where the 8.5% alcohol provides a well-integrated, smooth warmth without being solventy.

Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7–9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves decorative lacing. Shows a slight, modern haze while remaining translucent.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of fresh pine and tangelo from the Waimea, alongside crushed lime and lemon peel from the Motueka. A distinct, dank, and herbal resinous character from cannabis terpenes is evident. Malt is neutral and supportive, appearing as a faint crackery note.

Taste. Strong hop flavors of lime zest, tropical fruit, and resinous pine. A moderately high bitterness is immediate but clean, lacking harshness. The cannabis terpenes contribute an earthy, spicy complexity that lingers into the aftertaste. Minimal malt presence allows for a very dry and crisp finish with a clean fermentation profile.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively prickle on the tongue. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the strength of the beer without any astringency.
