Soma Beer

This Double IPA delivers a crushing sensory experience driven by a potent trio of Southern Hemisphere and Pacific Northwest hops. Rakau leads the charge with intense stone fruit and orchard-like depth, while Motueka provides a bright, zesty lime and tropical punch. The addition of Mosaic rounds out the profile with its signature complex layers of blueberry, mango, and earthy resin. Behind this hop-forward assault lies a lean, neutral malt base that keeps the focus squarely on the aromatics. Bold, refreshing, and deceptively smooth for its strength, the beer finishes with a crisp, dry bitterness that invites another sip of its salvaje spirit.

Appearance. Pours a deep gold to light orange-copper with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head. Displays good clarity, though a very slight, modern haze is present.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by lime zest, crushed tropical fruit, and ripe apricot. Secondary notes of blueberry and a hint of pine resin emerge over a very low, neutral, grainy malt background.

Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical fruit and citrus oils. Strong flavors of lime, peach, and mango from the Rakau and Motueka hops. Moderately high bitterness is firm but clean, lacking harshness. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive support. Finishes very dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
