This Double IPA presents an intense sensory experience driven by the concentrated interplay of Nectaron and Kohatu hops. A vibrant bouquet of ripe pineapple, passion fruit, and fleshy peach from the Nectaron dominates the senses, while Kohatu contributes subtle lime zest and resinous pine needles. The aromatic intensity is matched by a clean, lean malt profile that provides structural support without introducing residual sweetness. On the palate, the stone fruit and tropical notes are amplified, leading into a firm, crisp bitterness typical of the style. Smooth yet potent, it finishes dry with a lingering citrus peel essence and a well-integrated, warming 8% alcohol presence.

Appearance. Deep gold to pale amber in color (7-9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, modern haze.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, peach, and crushed pineapple. Secondary aromas include lime, floral pine, and a hint of grapefruit. Malt is low and neutral, offering a light crackery background. Fermentation is clean with a very light ester profile and a soft, non-solventy alcohol warmth.

Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical and stone fruit flavors, specifically pineapple and nectarine. Medium-low, neutral malt flavors provide a soft foundation. Bitterness is moderately high and firm but lacks harshness, balancing the hop-forward profile. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean hoppy bitterness and a touch of resinous pine in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a prickly scrub that enhances the dry finish. Alcohol warmth is noticeable but smooth and well-integrated, with no hop-derived astringency.
