This Double IPA showcases a vibrant collision of Nelson and Citra hops, delivering a punchy sensory experience. The nose is dominated by Nelson Sauvin’s signature notes of crushed gooseberry, white wine grape, and a hint of diesel, layered over Citra’s bright grapefruit and tropical lime. An 8% ABV provides a structural warmth that supports a lean, grainy malt backbone. On the palate, the hop intensity is firm, offering waves of passion fruit and zesty citrus before transitioning into a dry, lingering bitterness. The use of Nelson Cryo intensifies the hop oils, resulting in a clean, highly aromatic profile characteristic of modern strong ales.

Appearance. Deep gold with light orange-copper hues (8 SRM). Moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Slight haze present from heavy dry-hopping, though still translucent.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of white wine grapes, gooseberry, and crushed berries from the Nelson hops, coupled with grapefruit and tropical mango from the Citra. Supportive, clean, grainy malt in the background with a neutral fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.

Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of passion fruit, citrus peel, and grape skins. Initial low, crackery malt sweetness is quickly overtaken by a moderately high, clean bitterness. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering resinous and citrusy aftertaste. Alcohol is present but smooth and integrated.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop resins. Moderate to medium-high carbonation provides a lively mouthfeel. Noticeable but restrained alcohol warmth without harshness or astringency.
