Soma Beer

This Hazy IPA pours with a vibrant tropical intensity, driven by a heavy-handed application of Mosaic, Simcoe, and Citra. The aroma is a saturated blend of mango, passion fruit, and citrus zest, thanks to the use of Cryo and BBC hop formats which amplify the oils without adding vegetal notes. On the palate, Mosaic delivers blueberry and earthy undertones, while Simcoe provides a sharp pine and stone fruit edge, all softened by a bready malt base. It is a lush, juice-forward experience that maintains high drinkability through a smooth, pillowy texture and a restrained bitterness that lingers with a clean, fruity finish.

Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM). Opaque, hazy appearance with a luminous shine. Thick, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and dense, persistent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity. Intensely fruity with prominent notes of ripe mango, papaya, and citrus peel. Layers of blueberry and tropical stone fruit are complemented by a resinous, piney backbone. Low bready, grainy malt character in the background with a clean fermentation profile.

Taste. High hop flavor mirroring the aroma; juice-forward tropical fruit, grapefruit, and a hint of forest pine. Low to medium-low bitterness that is soft and well-integrated. The malt provides a supportive bready foundation. Finish is off-dry and smooth, with a lingering citrus and berry aftertaste and no harsh hop burn.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and smooth texture. Moderate carbonation. Creamy feel on the tongue without being viscous. Gentle, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No astringency.

Soma – Golden Ratio. Soma nace de la pasión del gironés Ramon Prat por el lúpulo y de un accidente: la cancelación de una fiesta. Se trataba de una fiesta en la que habían encargado a Ramón, por aquel entonces aficionado homebrewer, un lote de 100 L de cerveza. La suspensión de esta obligó a Ramón a darle salida a ese excedente ofreciéndosela a un bar de la zona. Fue tal el recibimiento de su cerveza que aceleró su proceso de conversión de fanbeer a profesional del sector craft. Actualmente Soma es posiblemente la micro más valorada y codiciada del país. La calidad de sus IPA s y lo exiguo de sus producciones convierten en preciado oro líquido todo lo que se cuece en sus pequeñas instalaciones. 1.61803398875… No, no son los decalitros que te tomarías de esta cerveza si te dejaran, es el número áureo (Golden ratio). Posiblemente Ramón pensaba en cuales eran las proporciones más cercanas a Dios cuando echaba paladas de Simcoe Cryo y Mosaic BBC en el whirpool y el Mosaic Cryo y Citra en el Dry Hopping. Creemos que es muy posible que el de Gerona haya encontrado esta proporción áurea en la cerveza. Porque Soma – Golden Ratio es una IPA de 7% densa, herbal y afrutada que roza la perfección.
