Soma Boost is a vibrant Double IPA that showcases a saturated hop profile driven by the intensive combination of Motueka Cryo, Nectaron, and Riwaka. The sensory experience is an explosion of zesty lime, crushed passion fruit, and ripe peach, underpinned by a clean, neutral malt base. On the palate, the Motueka Cryo provides a concentrated citrus brightness, while Nectaron adds fleshy stone fruit depth and Riwaka contributes a distinct pink grapefruit and tropical character. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains remarkably drinkable with a firm bitterness and a dry, resinous finish that highlights the expressive Southern Hemisphere hop character.
Appearance. Gold to light orange (7-9 SRM) with slight haze common in modern versions. Features a moderate-sized, persistent, white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward bouquet dominated by tropical fruit, lime, and stone fruit. Secondary notes of grapefruit and resin. Malt is neutral and supportive, while the fermentation profile remains clean with a subtle, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. High-intensity hop flavors of passion fruit, peach, and citrus lime. Malt character is low and grainy, providing a lean backdrop for the firm, moderately high bitterness. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste, free of harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to high. A light, smooth alcohol warmth is present but restrained, with no hop-derived astringency.
