Sofia Electric Brewing Vintage Nomad
This Double IPA presents a modern interpretation of the West Coast tradition, balancing aggressive bitterness with a clean, lean profile. The aroma is dominated by intense hop notes of sticky pine resin, bright grapefruit zest, and hints of tropical mango and passion fruit. A supportive, neutral malt backbone provides structure without adding cloying sweetness. On the palate, a firm, bracing bitterness leads the way, followed by flavors of citrus peel and forest floor. It finishes exceptionally dry and crisp, with a lingering resinous quality and a smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth that belies its strength.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale copper with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, persistent, off-white head that leaves tight lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring classic resinous pine and grapefruit, layered with modern notes of melon and tropical fruit. Very low, clean, grainy maltiness in the background; fermentation is neutral with no distracting esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of citrus and resin. Malt flavor is low and neutral, providing a soft, unobtrusive base. Bitterness is high but clean, never harsh. The finish is very dry with a long, resinous, hoppy aftertaste and a light, smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture from hop oils. Carbonation is medium-high, accentuating the dry finish. Very light, pleasant alcohol warmth is present.
