Summer Shift is a vibrant Double IPA that leans into a contemporary, silky profile through heavy fruit additions and Southern Hemisphere hops. This collaboration delivers an explosive sensory experience, where the tart, tropical intensity of passion fruit and the velvety sweetness of apricot puree integrate seamlessly with a potent 8% ABV. The dry-hop profile featuring Motueka and Galaxy heightens the aromatic complexity, offering bright layers of fresh lime zest and ripe peach. It presents a smooth, modern interpretation of the style, balancing a soft, hazy structure with a clean, hop-forward finish that masks its strength behind a lush, fruit-driven character.
Appearance. Deep gold to pale orange (7–9 SRM). Opaque and hazy with a dense, creamy, long-lasting off-white head that leaves significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Assertive tropical notes of passion fruit and tart apricot dominate the profile. Supporting hop aromas of lime, lemon zest, and pineapple from the use of Motueka and Galaxy are prominent. Clean, neutral malt sits in the background with a lightly fruity fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a punch of tangy passion fruit and stone fruit. Hop flavors mirror the aroma with prominent citrus and tropical fruit notes. Bitterness is firm but smooth, avoiding the harshness often found in strong ales. The malt character is supportive, clean, and soft, providing a grainy platform for the adjuncts. Finish is medium-dry with a lingering fruity tartness and hop resins.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable silky, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being solventy. Very low astringency.
