This Double IPA presents an intensified sensory experience, amplifying the character of its predecessor with a robust malt backbone and a saturated hop profile. Dominated by Citra and Mosaic, the nose is a vibrant explosion of candy-like passion fruit and fresh pineapple juice, layered with subtle forest berries and bright citrus zest. While the style demands a strong bitter presence, this expression leans into a thicker, more luscious texture, allowing the tropical fruit intensity to transition into a surprisingly sweet, rounded finish. The 8.2% ABV provides a well-integrated warmth that supports the dense hop oils without overshadowing the fruit-forward focus of the hops.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM). Displays a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a slight, localized haze expected from heavy dry-hopping.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of passion fruit, pineapple, and mixed berries. Clean, neutral maltiness resides in the background with a faint grainy sweetness. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters and a subtle, smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Leading with an intense burst of tropical candy flavors including pineapple and passion fruit, supported by citrus and berry notes from the Citra and Mosaic. Malt flavor is clean and supportive but presents a higher residual sweetness than typical for the style. Bitterness is moderately high and firm but not harsh, balanced by a medium-full body. The finish is notably sweet and rounded for a Double IPA, with lingering hop oils and fruit flavors.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
