Chomp is a vibrant Hazy IPA that radiates a lush, tropical energy, born from a collaboration between Sofia Electric and Clandestin Beer. The profile is dominated by a heavy saturation of Amarillo Lupomax and Citra Lupomax, delivering concentrated layers of bright tangerine, pink grapefruit, and zesty lime. This citrus core is balanced by the distinct pineapple and passionfruit notes provided by Victoria Secret hops, adding a complex Southern Hemisphere flair. A soft, bready malt base provides a supportive platform for these intense hop oils, leading to a smooth, pillowy mouthfeel. This beer showcases a refined juicy character with restrained bitterness and a clean finish.
Appearance.Straw to deep gold (4-6 SRM). Opaque with a uniform, luminous haze. Features a large, frothy white head with excellent retention and thick, meringue-like lacing.
Aroma.High intensity aroma featuring dominant notes of crushed pineapple, overripe mango, and navel orange. A distinct floral and lime zest quality from the Lupomax additions shines through. Background notes of white bread dough and sweet oats are present, with clean fermentation and very low, supportive esters.
Taste. An initial rush of tropical fruit juice—specifically pineapple and passionfruit—is followed by a wave of citrus oils. Perceived bitterness is low to moderate-low, feeling soft rather than sharp. The malt flavor is restrained, suggesting doughy, flaked grains. The finish is off-dry and exceedingly smooth, with a long-lasting aftertaste of citrus peel and tropical fruit.
Mouthfeel.Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy, and velvety texture. Moderate carbonation. Very low, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No hop astringency or raw grain harshness is present.
