This Autumn Seasonal Beer presents a sensory tribute to colonial harvest traditions, defined by its pale hazy gold hue and a complex aromatic bouquet of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. The foundation of North American 2-Row malt provides a clean, bready base, while Carastan and C-60 malts contribute subtle layers of caramel and toasted pie crust. Real pumpkin puree added to the mash imparts a velvety depth to the profile. Cascade and Liberty hops offer a restrained, floral counterpoint to the warming spices, finishing with a balanced, off-dry character that evokes the nostalgic essence of a spiced harvest ale.
Appearance. Pale hazy gold in color (approximately 6-8 SRM) with a slight, persistent haze from the pumpkin puree. Features a well-formed, off-white head with moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high aroma intensity led by a classic spice blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Supportive malt notes of toasted bread and light caramel from the Carastan and C-60 malts are present. Hop character is very low, offering a faint floral note from the Liberty hops, with no significant fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impression of warm autumn spices followed by a malty heart of toasted grain and biscuit. The pumpkin puree adds a subtle earthy richness and sweetness rather than a distinct vegetable flavor. Hop bitterness from Cascade is mild, providing just enough balance against the malt. The finish is clean and off-dry with lingering notes of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate, providing a crisp lift to the spices. A very light alcohol warmth is present, appropriate for its strength, without any harshness or astringency.
