The sensory experience begins with a rich interplay of dark chocolate and espresso notes, brightened by a medium-low citrusy hop presence typical of the style. The inclusion of honey adds a subtle waxy complexity and a rounded sweetness that softens the charred edges of the roasted grain. Despite its approachable 4.7% ABV, it maintains a robust character with a lingering finish of bittersweet cocoa and resinous hops, offering a balanced, multidimensional profile that bridges traditional intensity with refined drinkability.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (35-40 SRM) with a large, persistent, light tan head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate roast intensity featuring notes of dark chocolate and roasted coffee; a distinct floral honey sweetness is present, complemented by low resinous and citrusy hop aromas and clean fermentation esters.
Taste. Initial impressions of bittersweet chocolate and espresso-like roast; medium-high bitterness is present but smoothed by a subtle honey mid-palate sweetness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering citrusy hop flavor and a clean, slightly charred grain character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a noticeable creaminess; moderate carbonation provides a lively texture. Very low alcohol warmth with a slight, non-aggressive roast-derived astringency.
