Western Front is a bridge between eras, delivering the bold structural integrity of a classic American IPA with the vibrant aromatics of contemporary hop varieties. The sensory experience is led by a powerful hop trio: Simcoe provides an anchoring layer of resinous pine and earth, while Mosaic and Galaxy erupt with bright notes of passion fruit, blueberry, and zesty citrus. This aromatic complexity sits atop a lean, grainy malt base that provides just enough support without distracting from the hop intensity. It finishes crisp and decidedly bitter, making for a refreshing yet assertive profile that honors tradition while embracing modern hop-forward intensity.
Appearance. Medium gold (approx. 7 SRM) with high clarity. It is topped by a persistent, medium-sized white head with fine-textured lacing and excellent retention.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of pine needles and resin, layered with tropical passion fruit and citrus zest. Low, clean, bready malt sweetness provides a neutral background. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters or phenols.
Taste. The initial impression is a punch of hop-forward tropical fruit and citrus, followed by a firm, resinous bitterness. Malt flavor is low and neutral, reminiscent of cracker or pale grain. The balance is heavily hop-forward, leading to a dry and crisp finish with a lingering bitterness and a slight citrus-oil aftertaste.
