Single Hill Brewing Tectonic Chronic
This commanding Double IPA delivers a powerful sensory experience rooted in a classic American hop profile. A massive dry-hop addition of Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic creates an aromatic explosion of ripe mango, pink grapefruit, and resinous pine needles. On the palate, a clean, crackery malt base provides just enough support for the intense, persistent bitterness to shine without becoming harsh. The 8.9% ABV is masterfully integrated, offering a smooth, warming sensation that complements the citrus and berry notes. It finishes exceptionally dry and crisp, leaving a lingering trail of tropical fruit and forest floor on the tongue.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper (SRM 7-10). Excellent clarity with a moderate, persistent, off-white head that leaves consistent lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit and lime from Citra, accented by the earthy pine of Simcoe and the distinct blueberry and tropical fruit qualities of Mosaic. Malt is clean and supportive with a neutral, grainy character and no caramel presence.
Taste. Strong hop flavors of passion fruit, resin, and citrus zest lead into a moderately high to high bitterness. The malt profile is low and soft, providing a clean canvas for the hops. Fermentation is clean with very low esters. Finishes dry and crisp with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, polished texture. Carbonation is medium-high, adding a refreshing bite. A refined, smooth alcohol warmth is present but remains well-integrated without being solventy.
