This Hazy IPA showcases a sophisticated fruit profile built upon a soft, pillowy base of Pilsner malt. The sensory experience is defined by the unique pairing of Nelson Sauvin, contributing its signature white wine-grape and gooseberry notes, and the experimental YQH 1320, which layers in nuances of ripe cherry and apricot. A subtle, unexpected hint of rosemary provides an herbal lift to the aromatics. Expect an opaque, luminous pour with a creamy mouthfeel that balances the intense, juicy fruit character against a restrained bitterness, culminating in a smooth, off-dry finish that highlights Yakima-grown hop innovation and complex stone fruit depth.
Appearance. Color is a luminous straw-gold (4 SRM). Appearance is opaque with a characteristic hazy shine; no visible particulates. Topped by a dense, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring distinct notes of white wine-grape, gooseberry, and a deep stone fruit medley of cherry and apricot. A faint, savory herbal hint of rosemary mingles with ester-driven fruitiness. The malt background is lightly grainy and bready, derived from the pilsner base.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of juicy tropical and stone fruits, specifically ripe apricot and red cherry. The Nelson Sauvin hops provide a sophisticated vinous character. Low to medium-high bitterness is well-masked by the soft malt profile. The finish is off-dry and smooth, maintaining a clean fermentation character without harshness or hop burn.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, pillowy texture. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable creaminess on the palate with no astringency. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 6.8% ABV.
