Phil from Simple Things says “Patrick, head brewer at Campervan, and I first brewed this beer during our year at Heriot Watt on the home brew kit in my garden shed. It was our first attempt at a kettle sour and didn’t go 100% smoothly… It did however turn out really well and we ended up winning a competition with it. We’ve talked about brewing it again ever since, and so… here it is!
“We’ve updated the hops but otherwise it’s the same recipe; 50/50 Pilsner malt and wheat with a generous pinch of Munich for a bit kore oomph in the body, kettle soured over a couple of days before being generously dry hopped with big US hops – in this case Idaho 7, Mosaic and Calypso. Fermented with the beautifully eccentric Belgian Sacch Trois strain for even more tropical fruit, which the souring accentuates and brings extra depth to. The finish is long and clean with strong citrus pith vibes. Drink of the summer, right here!”
