This robust Strong Bitter presents a complex balance between hearty grain and assertive hopping. At 6% ABV, it leads with a malt profile reminiscent of fresh-baked bread, providing a solid foundation for the pronounced bitterness suggested by its name. Distinctive red fruit esters weave through the mid-palate, offering a jammy character that complements the earthy and floral qualities of traditional English hops. The experience is full-flavored yet retains the essential drinkability of its class, concluding with a dry, lingering bitterness. Appearance. Deep amber to copper (15 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Topped by a moderate, creamy, off-white head with good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Pronounced bready and biscuity malt aromas are layered with significant fruity esters suggesting red berries and plums. Low to moderate earthy and floral hop character provides a traditional English backdrop.
Taste. Initial bready and lightly toasty malt sweetness is quickly met by a firm, medium-high hop bitterness. Hop flavors are earthy and floral, supporting the prominent red fruit esters. The balance shifts toward bitterness in the finish, which is medium-dry to dry with a lingering biscuity aftertaste.
