This collaborative Double IPA delivers an immersive sensory journey, defined by the aggressive addition of fresh spruce tips in the kettle and fermenter. The aroma is dominated by sharp resinous pine and woodland balsam, harmonizing with the unique orange peel and cream-soda notes of Lotus hops. On the palate, a firm bitterness provides a crisp canvas for the layered profile, where Simcoe contributes deep earthy pine and subtle passion fruit undertones. Despite its 8.2% strength, the finish remains remarkably dry and clean, supported by a lean, neutral malt backbone and a smooth, lingering conifer-driven warmth.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper with a slight haze. Topped by a persistent, off-white, rocky head that leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aroma of fresh-cut spruce, resinous pine, and damp earth. Supporting notes of candied orange, vanilla, and tropical stone fruit from the Lotus and Simcoe hops. Low, clean, bready malt in the background with a faint, pleasant alcohol floral note.
Taste. Initial punch of resinous wood and pine needles followed by bright citrus and berry flavors. The bitterness is high and firm but lacks harshness. Malt flavor is unobtrusive and slightly crackery, allowing the spruce and hops to dominate. Finishes very dry with a lingering resinous and tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively scrub on the tongue. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth without solventy heat.

The guys up in the b’ham (Bellingham, duh) are making some NEXT LEVEL beer. We heard from a bird that Stemma was killing the game up north, so we knew we had to get a project going together. Having an amazing imagery and motif, as well as slanging those top-tier suds it was a match made in heaven.
